Walk the Pond 2020: Enjoy Nature Where You Live! (9/26 – 10/31)

Virtual Walk the Pond 2020 was a success! Walk the Pond has traditionally been a one-day fundraising and family event in support of our work in Lincoln Park. This year, with the exciting launch of our North Pond restoration project and to reflect COVID-19 social distancing requirements, Walk the Pond went virtual. Our supporters joined us for a month-long opportunity to explore nature close to home, enjoy nature play and educational activities related to pond ecology and other aspects of the North Pond restoration, and help spread the word about the North Pond project on social media.

Our goal was to encourage everyone to get out in nature safely during COVID and to spread the word about the Conservancy’s biggest Park project to date, North Pond’s restoration!

We’d like to thank everyone who helped make our 2020 Virtual Walk the Pond a success. With COVID pivoting the event to a virtual platform, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we so enjoyed developing the virtual nature activities and seeing participant photos. We also raised awareness and funds for our exciting North Pond restoration! We couldn’t have done it without our Walk the Pond participants. While we missed seeing everyone in the Park for our annual family party, we look forward to being in person again next year and hope to see you “walking the pond” to explore nature wherever you are this winter. Thank you for your support!

Thank you to our 2020 Walk the Pond Committee:

Rachel Sturges, Claire Millet, Julie Jahn, Danielle Hoeg, Andrea Chadwick and Mindy Munson
